Random-ish

Still haven't been to the gym. I'm in a funk. Yesterday I told Mike that I was on the road to recovery. Step 1: Pack gym bag. Step 1.5: Actually bring gym bag in from the car to the office so I can change after work (I don't like changing at the gym). I reached both Step 1 and 1.5 yesterday. Now, since my gym bag was already packed from yesterday, Step 1 was accomplished today without any effort. I haven't yet reached Step 1.5 because I usually bring my gym bag in during lunch, so I have a few hours to accomplish this. Now assuming that I am successful in Step 1.5, I will move on to Step 2: Actually changing into my gym clothes. And then from there, assuming all goes well, I will move on to Step 2.5: Going to the gym. And then the final step, Step 3: Have a full and complete run. I really am hoping to make it to Step 3 today. This week is Spring Break, so its especially hard knowing that Mike is at home not studying super crazy, like normal. He hasn't had much opportunity to study this week, with work and two dentist appointments and working for a firm in Utah through email. Its been crazy. These poor law students cram so much in during Spring Break because things are just a little lighter than normal. It makes it not so much a break.

We're almost done with year 2 though! I just can't believe it! April is going to fly by because of all that I have already planned to do, and Mike will be studying like crazy. I was going to do this super duper cool race in Texas with a friend in April, and when we went to register for it, it was completely full! Do you know how many people it takes to fill this race up? This particular race is in waves. The waves are every 30 minutes, the entire day, and each wave is up to 500 people. Do you know how many people that is?! We were going to register a month before the race and it was full. FULL! I was so so disappointed. There is another one in Texas in November that we are going to shoot for. And this race is not just any race, which is why I am so disappointed. This race is only 3.24 miles, but it has obstacles. Jumping over fire, crawling under barbed wire, running down a river, tires, swimming across a swamp....and on and on. Isn't that cool? We are so disappointed. My friend and I were going to run it together and then our husbands were going to run it together in a different wave. So fun, but it will have to be delayed.

But speaking of Texas, we got our hotels booked last night for the first weekend in April to meet Mike's brother and family in Dallas! Its become our tradition to meet them in Dallas (they live in Houston) every conference weekend. We don't watch much conference, but we get a lot of fun family time in, and then we'll watch/listen/read the talks later. Not quite sure what we're doing while we're there, but its always an adventure. We're super excited!

Oh and I filled out my bracket this morning. Go DUKE!

My new favorite word thats not really a word is -ish. I love it. I say it all the time. Mike and I spent the entire time driving to Walmart last night talking about this word. It all started with me saying something and then pausing for a moment and then saying -ish. -Ish signifies that what you said is pretty much true but it very possibly might not be true at the same time. You should have seen the look on Mike's face when I said it. He was so confused. So I explained to him the meaning of -ish, and he proceeded to tell me that what I said makes absolutely no sense. Here is an example of a short conversation that I would very possibly end in -ish:

Mike: "When are you going to be leaving work?"

Me: "In about 10 to 15 minutes......-ish."

It makes no sense to Mike, but for some reason, I have picked up this word and now use it in everyday conversation.

All I have had today is two pieces of cake and a cupcake.....oh and a glass of water. Mike says I need something hearty. All I can think of is chili. That really is the first thing I think of when I think "hearty".

Oh and its St. Patrick's Day. And yes, I still feel the same way. I hate it. Because if you wear green, people comment on the fact that your cliche and your wearing green on St. Patrick's Day. But if you don't wear green then people comment on the fact the its St. Patrick's Day and your not wearing green.....sinner. So today, I chose a floral shirt, which includes little leaves. Which are green. So I am wearing green. And yes, I have already had one comment today about where my green was. Yes, I did point to the little leaves on my shirt. So dumb.

And here is a picture. Because a friend of mine told me that blogs need pictures. And I haven't taken any lately. So I stole this off my sisters facebook. This is a picture of my sister and my niece. Gotta love them.

Wishes

I wish that I was the type of person that when I had a bad day I ate less than I would on a normal day.

I'm not. I eat double what I would on a normal day.

I wish that I was the type of person that when I had a bad day I would go run it out at the gym.

I'm not. Not only do I not exercise on the particularly bad day, I take the entire week (or more) off.

Bad combination.

Precious

Do I have absolutely the greatest friends in the world, or what?

Inspire

I'm loving these pages of quotes that I pulled from the Latter Day Woman Spring 2011 Catalog.
For when we all could use a little bit of inspiration.

Food

So I feel like I talk a lot about food on here. I really do. It's because I love it. Some days I feel like I live my life for the sole purpose of eating food. A couple of my recent favorites are:

The delicious Sweet Onion sauce at Subway. Have you tried this? It is so delicious and the best part, its fat free! Put it on a Veggie and the meal is practically guilt free! Oh joyful!

Croutons. I have become slightly obsessed with them. To the point that people at work bring me their little packages of croutons that they may get with their lunches. Yes, as of right now, I have exactly 10 small packages of croutons in my desk. The best croutons, you ask? Texas Toast Croutons, Garlic & Butter Flavored. These are to die for. I buy them on a regular basis. I would rather snack on these than any sort of chip or other unhealthy, savory snack. And on any given night, you could very possibly walk into my house and find me watching my favorite TV show with a bag of these babies in my hands.

This one isn't quite a recent favorite, more like a seasonal favorite, but its that time of year again, people. Yes, Cadbury Mini Eggs are back out on the shelves. As much as I wish these were around all year long, keeping this candy strictly seasonal saves me a few pounds each year I'm sure, and this candy is definitely worth the wait. I hadn't had a chance to buy them yet, but my dear, sweet friend was kind enough to leave a bag on my porch. She thought her husband might frown on the 5 bags that she bought (isn't she the coolest, 5 bags!), so she pawned one off on me, and I gladly accepted.

How do you get a man (Mike) to eat vegetables? Smother them in cheese!! Let me clarify, you cannot just smother any veggie in cheese and expect a man (Mike) to eat it. Ladies, they (Mike) are (is) smarter than that. We (I) have to pick veggies that men (Mike) don't (doesn't) claim "taste like dirt". And as funny as that sounds. To men (Mike), most veggies truly do taste like dirt. Well if you mean they grow out of the ground and weren't processed somewhere in a nasty plant, then yes, I guess they do taste like dirt. So we (I) just smother the healthy veggies in the nasty processed cheese sauce, and voila, a potentially healthy, but definitely low in calorie side to the healthy grilled chicken breast. And Green Giant has done this successfully. It truly tastes great.

To recap, I like food. A lot.

Cars

Look how happy I was the day the I bought my car! What a beauty. But its good that this car has finally been put to rest. The poor thing has suffered through a short and painful, but fulfilling life. Its taken me on multiple roadtrips to Arizona, Vegas, Yellowstone and to the Midwest (twice). And many other wonderful adventures.

And I may or may not have cried on Saturday when we went to go clean out the car and turn over our keys. Don't judge me.

Here is our replacement car. A Nissan Rogue. We love it! We absolutely had a miserable car buying experience, but in the end, we got the car that we wanted. It has all the fancy stuff, including blue tooth which causes me to wait to call people until I get in the car just for the fun of using it. Hopefully this will wear off quickly.

Totaled

So we got the news back about the car. Totaled.

TOTALED.

I am a bit sad. That car was my baby. Got it brand new right after high school graduation. My first big girl purchase.

So we have the rental car until Monday. That's it! Monday! Which means the next 3 days are car buying craziness in our home. We kinda know what we want, but we kinda don't. We kinda want used but we kinda want new. We really don't know what we want. The only thing we know for sure is we want to buy, not lease. But other than that...we are kinda just going. We did go and look at a car last night. Great car, decent condition, not a fabulous price though. And he wouldn't go lower. So we are still shopping. I woke up at 3:00 AM last night because my mind was just reeling about it all and I couldn't clear my mind enough to really sleep. Blah. I hate buying cars. We just did this 8 months ago. I'm not ready to have to deal with a car salesman again.

We will be going probably this weekend to the wrecker to clean out the car, and I will be taking some pictures so you can all see. I haven't really even seen it. A couple of crappy cell phone pictures is all.

Stupid dump truck.

Gnomes

I was picking up around the house, which included putting Mike's cup from dinner in the dishwasher. He came in the room not more than 5 minutes later and I was sitting on the couch. He said, "Did you put my cup in the dishwasher already? It's like we have little gnomes that take my things and put them in the dishwasher."

I laughed so hard. So maybe I'm a slight clean freak. I may or may not follow Mike around the house to clean up after him.

So Gnomeo and Juliet comes out this weekend. And we've already decided, because of the previous comment, that we will definitely be seeing this in the theatre. Can't wait.

I am also on the hunt for a mini ceramic gnome. The Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby have already been exhausted, so if any one sees one anywhere else, let me know.

Snow Day

We are loving this snow day. We probably only got about 10-12 inches of snow but the snow drifts are up to 5 feet and its only 10 degrees outside with 50 mph winds which means the entire city has shut down! So here we sit at home, enjoying each others company. The house is clean and we got our taxes done! Super productive day so far. And to think, I didn't have to go to work today but I am still getting paid. I got paid to clean my house. I could get used to this.

Yesterday was a not so fabulous day. On the way to work, Mike got hit by a dump truck on the freeway. He was smashed between the dump truck and the cement barrier in the center of the freeway. He his fine, thank goodness, but the Civic, not so much. I think this is the 7th time that the Civic has been hit in less than 4 years. It may also be the last because Mike says there is a very good chance that the car could be totaled. Lovely. Either way, I am so grateful that Mike is okay, because he really could have been seriously hurt. The other guy already admitted fault, so now it's just getting through all the phone calls and paperwork. I feel like we are pros at this car accident/ insurance thing because we have done it so many times. Who knows, we may end up getting another new car. Mike tried to tell me yesterday that if the car is totaled, we should just lease a new Camaro. Hah. Boys.
