May Days

Happy weekend! The girls are doing a spa day and the boys are out treasure hunting. We close on our house on Tuesday and we leave for Disneyland on Memorial Day!
Oh and our washer and dryer still works after being stored in the garage for a year. {Yes we did run a load in the driveway with hose water...} Yay for saving $1,000.

2,192 Days

Look at us. Babies.

Six years. You have made me happier than I ever knew I could be. Thank you for awakening a spirit in me that I never knew I possessed. You are my best friend. My confidant. My hero. And I love you for everything you bring into my life. Happy Anniversary.

A Wedding for the Baby Girl

Once upon a time last December on the 27th, my twin sister that is approximately 6 years younger than I am was married. It was a cold, wintry day, however, if its going to snow, lets make it a pretty snow, eh? Here is a plethora of pictures from the lovely day.

See, what did I tell you! Pretty snow.

 My eyes went Chinese in this picture? And the white in my eye? Gone.

Oh nephew, I love you so.

Home

Light fixtures are expensive. And I think that home builders are out to suck every living penny out of us. Its an epidemic. In other news, we have bath tubs, and a fireplace insert and our furnace. Oh and in other other news, a couple of pigeons have taken up residence before we even got the chance. Those workers like to leave the windows open resulting in white and brown spotted nastiness spread throughout the house. They better figure it out soon or I'm canceling my order. Jokes. However, I am pretty worried about them sheet rocking one of those birds in and then I'll have a dead, rotting bird in my walls. And then I really will cancel my order.

Look, our house has a shape!
Look, we have a roof!
Look, we have electrical!
Look, we have a bathtub!

December Family Pictures...in March

Another year, another family picture. Brought to you 3 months after they were taken.

I love this picture. Which has immediately taken the honorary role of desk picture at work for us both.
I wish I would have kept that shirt. Spending $17 on a shirt is hard for the permanent college student wiring of my brain. Maybe things will change after we make our first million. ;)
The traditional sibling picture. Probably the first picture that my brother is taller than the rest of us girls. Shed a little tear for baby brothers growing up.
I love these people.

The Beginnings of a Home

Saying we are obsessed with the progress of new home would be and understatement.
{The hole is dug}
{The foundation is poured}
{It had hardened too much by the time we got there, so instead of the full on handprints we had planned on, we were only able to lightly scratch in our fingerprints, initials and the year.}
{The foundation is dry and we have a window well!}
{The ground is filled in around the foundation}
{The framing has started}

Oh the joys!

Oceanside

It started with this conversation through text:

Abby: We should drive to California this weekend.

Mike: We should.

And then we did.
You see, we live at this time in our lives where we have very little obligations on the weekend. And so why not take off for a couple of warm days on the beach with my best friend?
I tell you what though, coming back to 30 degree weather? Not cool.

Saturdays

Today
 photo 2013-02-09173719_zps5b512f6e.jpg
...I sported my Yankee's hat to hide my day 3 hair and some black wellies in my efforts against anotherfreakingsnowstorm.

...We wandered through Ikea and ooo'd and ahhh'd over light fixtures for our new house. And then finished it of with 50 cent hotdogs while walking to the car.

...We stopped into the candy store while walking through the mall and bought Cow Tails. I felt like a spontaneous, dating couple again.

...I unintentionally sprayed men's cologne on myself. I TOTALLY thought it was women's perfume. But c'mon, what girl doesn't love the smell of cologne on a man? It's almost as good as smelling it on myself for the rest of the day...

...We quoted Baby Mama..."Did you just stick your gum under my coffee table....I don't know....What do you mean you don't know, do you think you're at an Arby's right now...You know what, I wish I was at an Arby's cuz there's better food and cooler people there...Did you stick all this gum under here...I DON'T KNOW, maybe you stuck some of it under there...Yeah, actually you might be right, because sometimes when I work a really long day I like to come home and chew a huge wad of Bubbalicious gum and stick it under my reclaimed barnwood coffee table.....I DON'T KNOW YOUR LIFE!" Best quote ever. Watch clip here.

...I got to spend the entire day with my best friend. I love him. Saturday's are seriously the greatest.

When Saturday's Get Boring, Coffee Tables Turn Into Benches

It occurred to me a year or so ago when my little neighbor friend came to visit that this coffee table was not so child friendly. The last thing I want is for some adorable child to climb themselves up on that glass and then break right through it. The child would get badly hurt and then the whole awkward thing with the child's parents would happen and chances are they would be a friend or somebody in the ward so then I would be all mortified and not be able to leave the house ever and I would beg Mike to move. So. Since we are getting a mortgage and all, the whole begging Mike to move thing wouldn't really work because it's not like you can just up and leave the house that you own. (Well kind of own, let's be honest, home ownership is a nice 30 year loan away.)

Wow.

So we decided to turn said glass centered coffee table into a bench. Because who doesn't like a nice, soft, beautifully blue bench.

Tada.
